Intern - Software Development
Technology is looking for an intern to work from our Washington DC and , VA offices, to work on a dynamic software development project in support of a government client. This is an opportunity to contribute to improving software development outcomes for our client, and to observe and participate in many aspects of an Agile software development project.
During this internship, you would be involved in the following:
  • Attend all Scrum related meetings, such as daily stand up, planning, review and retro
  • Pair programming of system changes with a senior developer
  • Develop test cases to increase quality of current codebase
  • Develop a repository for production support responses
  • Conduct analysis of system issues raised by end users by researching the code
  • Attend corporate level meetings to learn about other areas of the business, such as business development, finance and project management
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Completed coursework in Java or other object-oriented programming
  • The ability to work independently and in a team with developers providing guidance and support
  • A desire to learn new skills, including self-study if needed (such as to learn Junit)
  • The ability to follow through on tasks to completion
  • The ability to focus on details of a system change request to determine all potential functional paths
  • The ability to read through existing Java code with support of a senior developer
  • A true enjoyment of technology and the desire to contribute to a team’s output
Education and Certifications: Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree
Clearance: A prior clearance is helpful, but not required. Must be able to obtain a DHS Public Trust
