Hospital Billing System

On arrival at reception, the patient will be given a form to fill up to provide the personal details. After the Payment is made, the patient will get the receipt and then he/she will go to the respective clinic for testing. The data provided by the patient will be entered and based on the treatment/consulting required he/she will be advised to consult a Doctor from the panel.
FUNCTIONAL COMPONENTS:
  • Login to the system through the first page of the application
  • Change the password after logging into the system
  • Enter / edit the organization code and address.
  • Enter the ward number for the patient either in the general ward or the ICU.
  • Settle all bills pending to be paid by a patient before the patient’s discharge.
  • Keep a track of all beds occupied / free in both the ward and the ICU.
  • Keep a track of all transfers of patients from the general ward to the ICU and vice versa.
  • View information of all patients details, their admit time and the amount to be paid based on the treatment given and the ward selected.
  • Update the table fields as soon as a new patient is being admitted into the hospital or being discharged from the hospital.
PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
The present era is technically far advanced. With the rapid growth in technology, the life style of a human being is changing on a very high pace. This advanced technology provides an average human being with opportunity of leading a comfortable life. One of the greatest technical advancements is the advent of computers. The computers in the present world find applications in almost all the fields of education, business, sciences, engineering, etc. Hence computers have become an important asset of every human being.
One of the major applications of computers is in the field of internet. In the present day internet has become the most important and fastest means of communication and information exchange. Even the business firms use the facilities of internet and intranet with in their organization to exchange the information among various departments and also among industries. Hence the knowledge of computers is most extensively demanded in the present competitive world.
This project is aimed at developing a web site. This consist of the information about the patients in the world. By using this one can know how to bill the patients disease. This also gives the information about the hospital. The Administrator is responsible for the additions, deletions and updating of information to the database.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Existing System:-
The current maintenance of data by the PATIENT BILLING SYSTEM is on the form of hardcopies of forms. The job of maintaining those forms makes the job tedious.
  • More risk is involved in maintaining data as it doesn’t enforce strict security levels.
  • Quick reference can’t be made to required data as there are thousands of records.
  • Generalized data regarding patient information can’t be provided for decision making authorities in the existing system.
  • Much time is wasted in preparing the information required for decision support and policy making.
  • More manual labor is needed to safeguard the data in the existing system.
As the existing system has many drawbacks, necessity has come for developing the new system.
Proposed System:-
To overcome the drawbacks of the existing system, the new system is   proposed. This proposed system has the following advantages.
1 Maintains the data in the software format enforcing strict security levels.
2 Summarized data can be provided through reports.
PROBLEMS IN THE EXISTING SYSTEM
The existing system does not have a means for creating an account for each user. It also does not have many features like adding the user’s details to the database, updating the details of new diseases by the user through interaction with the administrator, sending mails and alerts to the registered users.
User:
Login to the system through the user’s login page.
Submit patient’s profile.
See/change patient’s details.
Exchanging and updating the information with the administrator.
Administrator:
Login to the system through the administrator’s login page.
Send mails and alerts to users.
Add and update billing detail’s .
THE PROPOSED NEW SYSTEM
1.The development of the new system contains the following activities which try to automate the entire process keeping in view of the database integration approach.
2.The administrators have grates accessibility in collecting the consistent information that is very much necessary for the system to exist and coordinate.
The system at any point of time can give the patient’ s  information related to their
Ø  Personal details
Ø  Diagnosis details
Ø  Transfer between ICU and ward and vice versa.
Ø  Total billing for a patient before his/her discharge.
3.   The system can provide the hospital administration with information on the number of doctors and staff and also the patients who exist in the system.
